Pacific Timber & Hardware is run by Wayne Lance (General Manager). Both stores have over 100 experienced team members who are all both experienced and committed.
The Nuku'alofa store (on Taufa'ahau Road) was opened May 1st 2008. It was built in the style of the overseas Home Depot or Bunnings stores. It is well-lit, well laid out, well stocked, well maintained and provides Tongan customers with a fabulous shopping experience. The recently built store boats over 1500m2 of retail space, which does not include the extra space for parking, bulk storage and the timber yard drive-thru. The store is over 2.5 times the size of the old store. The timber yard drive-thru has double road accessability (from Railway Rd & Tafau'ahau Rd) & is open to trade/builder customers.
The old Fanga stoe was opened in 1987 by Ross Chapman, then he was the GM of Burns Philp Tonga with a staff of twelve people. In 1992 Ross was still a manager with Burns Philp, under a new ground PFIL (Pacific Finance & Investments Ltd.) which has now been operating in Tonga for more than fifteen years! The original shareholders in PFIL were Ross Chapman, Kevin Davids, Don Munro, Roy Cocker and Bryan Welch.
